“…new architecture at an altitude of less than a thousand metres…”

“When stars pave the dial and millions rain under the hammer: that’s the hot news for watches”

“But also a chic diver in black livery, new architecture less than a thousand meters above sea level, a few shades of blue that can be adjusted with a knife, digital retronostalgia, a rocket in a museum and a weightless whirlpool…”

“H992: Certified chronometric architecture…

We’re going to start this review with a watch you’ve never heard of before – and that’s only to be expected, since it’s just come onto the market. H992, she tells us: H for Horlogerie or for… height, 992 being the altitude in meters of the town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, birthplace of the brand and watch manufacturing capital of the world, since the town’s rationalized urbanism – now classified by Unesco – is entirely centered around the watchmaking trades. It’s not for nothing that the H992 team calls itself “architecte horloger” – what could be more natural in the birthplace of a certain Le Corbusier? So, H992 and a Swiss Made ardently claimed, in the refined style as well as in the watchmaking skill (mechanics is officially chronometer-certified), but fortunately not in the price, since the first series of these H992 will only comprise 992 pieces invoiced at 992 Swiss francs (a little over 1,000 euros at today’s rate) – so we’re no longer in the price inflation that will eventually penalize Swiss watchmaking. By varying the bracelets (rubber or metal links) and dials (black, blue, green, silver) of these 42 mm steel cases, we end up with nine rather attractive versions, all equipped with a Swiss automatic movement (Sellita). We can only wish good luck to this new watchmaking initiative…”
